A couple of months ago I reviewed the Cadbury Flake and, whilst I enjoyed it, I had an issue with the mess the crumbly chocolate made. Well, now’s the time for me to review Cadbury’s answer to the problem: the Twirl!

These Twirl bars were the same concept as the Flake but came coated in an additional milk chocolate layer which kept the folded (or, you could say, ‘twirly’!) inner chocolate neatly in place. Interestingly, the colour scheme used on the wrapper was the Flake’s in reverse (yellow writing on a purple background) and, therefore, was equally distinctive.

Containing a minimum of 14% milk solids and 25% cocoa solids, these twin bars were given the basic description of ‘milk chocolate fingers’. These slightly rippled fingers were quite short in length and weighed around 17g each.

Once again, the Twirl had a good Cadbury chocolate smell and the same flavour as the Flake. However, I did find that the smooth outer layer of chocolate increased the flavour’s intensity and also improved the texture by giving a bit of added crunch, as well as creaming in the mouth. And, of course, it allowed me to snap a finger in two without making a mess!

You really can’t go wrong with a Cadbury classic.
